About Silver Per Ounce and Where Our Prices Come From

Values on this page use silver spot at $59.76/oz · updated

Quick answer: Silver Per Ounce publishes the live silver price, $59.76 per troy ounce as of October 7, 2026, with the math and context behind it. The price comes from a public spot feed and futures history. The site is funded by a partner, and the disclosure below says how.

Who this site is for

This site is for people who typed a question about silver and want a number they can trust, along with the reasoning behind it. Some are converting grams or kilos. Some are looking at a coin and wondering why it costs more than the quoted price. Others are trying to understand why silver has moved so far in both directions.

We keep the pages narrow. Each answers one question: the current silver price per ounce, what a unit of weight is worth, what separates spot from retail, or why the market moves. If a page cannot answer something, such as a dealer's quote today or the direction of the price, it says so.

Where the price comes from

The spot price comes from api.gold-api.com, a public feed for precious metal spot prices. The history behind the charts comes from COMEX futures for silver (symbol SI=F) and for gold (symbol GC=F), read through Yahoo Finance. That means the charts show futures history, and they are labeled that way. The spot figure and the futures series are different measurements, and we compare like with like wherever a page sets one against the other.

The troy ounce is 31.1035 grams. Every gram and kilo figure on this site is calculated from the ounce price using that constant, not typed in. For definitions of spot and spread, we follow the CFTC's consumer advice on buying physical metals. Unit definitions follow NIST.

How often the price refreshes

The site is rebuilt every six hours, and each rebuild reads fresh data. In your browser, the number on the page re-ticks each minute, so a page left open stays current. If scripts are blocked, you see the last built figure with its timestamp, which currently reads October 7, 2026. Nothing the page exists to show depends on scripts.

Because every dollar amount on every page is calculated from the live price, text such as a gram value or a ratio does not go stale between rebuilds. We avoid typing a dollar figure into prose, with a few exceptions: a stated minimum attributed to a partner, a sourced historical figure, and published forecast targets, each attributed to its source and its date.

Editorial and corrections standards

We follow a few rules. A fact on this page is either calculated from our data or attributed to a named source we have read. We say "as stated by" when the fact comes from a company about itself. We do not predict prices or tell you to buy or sell, and we make no promises about outcomes. We do not quote a figure we could not check, and when a source is secondary, such as a news outlet reporting a bank forecast, the page labels it that way.

If you find an error, the fix is made on the next rebuild and the page's update history records the date and the change. Substantive corrections are described on the page where they occur, not hidden. We do not collect messages through this site, so there is no form or inbox here, and corrections come from our own re-checks of sources.

Sources can change after we read them, so company facts are dated on the page that uses them.

How the site is funded

Disclosure. Silver Per Ounce earns money through an affiliate relationship with Augusta Precious Metals. If you click one of our green buttons and request a free Gold & Silver IRA information kit through Augusta's form, we may be paid. It costs you nothing extra, and the payment does not change the price shown on any page.

The button requests the information kit and nothing more. Augusta then contacts you by phone, and consent to be contacted is part of Augusta's form and is not a condition of buying anything. Augusta is the only company we feature. The facts we state about it are the ones Augusta and the BBB publish, attributed to them, and we print no fee figures. Augusta states a $50,000 minimum, so for someone pricing one coin it is not the right fit, and our guide on where to buy silver says that plainly.

We keep sales messages off pages where a reader is more likely to be selling than buying. On the melt value page, for instance, a reader has silver to sell, so it carries no button. Pages about forecasts carry no sales push in the middle of the text.

What we are not

We are not a dealer. We do not sell silver, hold your money or take orders. We are not an adviser and do not give financial, legal or tax advice. Augusta says it is not qualified to give that advice either. We are also not a source of quotes: a price on this site is a reference figure, not an offer.
